Are buying a domain name and getting webhosting spaces different things?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin

I saw a site offering domain names for very cheap rates , is it enough if I buy those domain names alone to have my own site or do I need to get hosting also by paying extra money?

No, you need both. Many sites offer the domain name itself for $1.99 or less, but you still need a server to host it on. Unless you plan on leaving your personal computer on 24/7 and racking up huge bandwidth charges, you will need to rent the space from somewhere else. Generally it will cost you about $100 per year on top of buying the domain name.

v6friendship.org YM chatter have 300gig space? is it true one can host 300gig??? its more than my hard drive.?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin

its alot of space. I’m not very sure how a hosting company can provide such a very huge hosting space. chatters said there website is hosted 300gig for the website and pictures but I cannot confirm if its true. Top web developer web designers and web design company and firm will surely host in that server if they will have alot of space. very cheap web hosting and affordable ? I like the idea and if its relieble and 100% uptime. They say its top webhosting and it is top on top webhost / webhosting reviews. here is the site v6friendship.org Anyone who need web hosting please help me review and find out if its true. Thank you.

Overselling works at attracting first-time customers. There are lots of first-time customers out there, so hosts who oversell naturally have an advantage at attracting these types of customers.

So, in the short-term, overselling is a great business strategy. Long-time its not a bad strategy either, IF you can keep those first-time customers.

The trouble is that its very hard for oversold hosts to retain customers long term because overselling eventually leads to overloading, which leads to lots of upset customers.

NOT overselling is more likely to attract customers who’ve been burned by oversellers, who are knowledgeable and serious, and want a host with whom they can actually feel safe. These types of customers make up a smaller segment, however, so its only natural that hosts who don’t oversell as much are smaller.

The advantage to NOT overselling is that, frankly, its so much easier from the perspective of a host. You don’t have to worry about servers getting overloaded, you have a much more loyal customer base, you are more likely to get referrals, you have fewer support requests, and overall, a lot less stress. These benefits trickle down to customers as well.

Also many the hosting reviews sites and top hosters are there because they pay to be just go to the review sites click on advertising see for your self or they just affiliate links and google adsense links crazy but true.

many unlimited space badwidth hosts also will kick you off if you are using too much cpu resources etc.

My host ain’t the cheapest but I know I’m getting what I pay for with http://jm-webhosting.com great speed and support

Recommendations for best webhosting and ecommerce site for small business?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin

I’m helping a friend research a new webhost and ecommerce provider. Apparently, he’s not happy with his current one. (i don’t know the name of the site). I recommended Yahoo small business, but I’m open to other suggestions. We’re primarily looking at cost, reliability, ease of use. Any recommendations?

I would agree with Kemperk on the basis that a college student would be a great option for building a website. However, I would disagree that it would be in your best interest. I find that it is very important to be involved in the building of your site. I also think it is could to learn website building so that you can continually add content and pages to your site. Just having a simple e-commerce site will not do you or anyone justice. You want to set yourself apart from other sites through the quality of your content. It is great that you are researching several options. Yahoo web hosting may be a good option for you. I would encourage you to look at several options. I would also recommend that you change the sequence of your comparison. First compare features such as tools, capacity, assistance, analyzing of your work etc. Then compare costs. You also want to look into the track record of the host. I use an incredible host that you can research as one of your options. http://www.tobuildyour.com

What free webhost have you used to upload your FrontPage website to?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin

I’ve been looking for a free webhost that offers FrontPage scripting. I’ve tried to and they haven’t worked. I need some links to the sites and directions (FTP) because they normally don’t make it clear.

You can try to use http://us.890m.com
It is pretty good and free. It provides databases, subdomains, email, ftp account, etc
I never seen the problem of server down, slow down, etc.

What FREE webhosting site can I use for Ikonboard?

Posted on September 30th, 2009 by admin

I’m trying to set up a forum with this particular program, but I really don’t want to buy a domain for something I might want to get rid of in a flash.

In other words what options do I have to host the forum for free?

I don’t really care about advertising banners, so uhhh, help?

The free webhost service I am using is http://www.000webhost.com/95407.html

They are completely free, and there aren’t any banner ads on your page.

They will either provide you with a free sub-domain you can use, OR they will host your own domain for free. I registered my own domain for free at www.register.com. They offer you a free domain for one year. Then I used http://www.000webhost.com/95407.html as my host, and they gave step by step instructions on redirecting my domain to their hosting services.

I am really pleased with my webhost. Everything that is included is amazing, and it is so easy to use! :)

You should check them out and see if they’ll work for what you are looking for.
