what is the difference between webhosting and domain name registration?

Posted on January 31st, 2010 by admin

Domain name registatraion just reserves the website name for you like (www.mywebsite.com).

In order for anything to actually appear on that site you have to get web space/hosting and make sure the domain name is "pointing" at the hosting you have.

Where can I find a webhost that doesnt frown on storing large numbers of files (My site is used to host files)?

Posted on January 31st, 2010 by admin

I plan on operating a website which is primarily a file hosting service similar to depositfiles.com or rapidshare.com, and I’m searching for a webhost which doesn’t prohibit large numbers of files to be stored (archives, videos, etc) and offers a large amount of webspace, preferably at least 300 GB.

You need a dedicated server. Take a look at: http://www.goldpuma.com, refer to: "Web hosting plans" from menu, choose "dedicated server".

Hope this helps.

Hello everyone,
Today I tried to download a song from a popular website, so instead of getting song downloaded , a page opened in my browser within few seconds which included following instructions :
"
Great Success !
Apache is working on your cPanel® and WHM™ Server
If you can see this page, then the people who manage this server have installed cPanel and WebHost Manager (WHM) which use the Apache Web server software and the Apache Interface to OpenSSL (mod_ssl) successfully. They now have to add content to this directory and replace this placeholder page, or else point the server at their real content.

ATTENTION!
If you are seeing this page instead of the site you expected, please contact the administrator of the site involved. (Try sending an email to <webmaster@domain>.) Although this site is running cPanel, WebHost Manager, and Apache software it almost certainly has no other connection to cPanel Inc. or the Apache Group. Please do not send mail about this site or its contents to cPanel Inc. or the Apache Group.

About cPanel:
cPanel is a leading provider of software for the webhosting industry. If you would like to learn more about cPanel please visit our website at http://www.cpanel.net/. Please be advised that cPanel Inc. is not a web hosting company, and as such has no control over content found elsewhere on this site.

About Apache HTTP Server:
The Apache HTTP Server is an open source web server which powers many of the worlds web sites. The Apache HTTP server is part of the Apache Group’s many influential projects. Their efforts have helped shape much the world wide web, and they continue to be a dominating force in the web hosting industry.
"

Now what this above message shows ? Does it make any harm to my PC ? I felt without any permission some thing has happened.I am having little idea about such matter. So please anybody help me to understand it.
Hoping for quick help.
Thank you.!
:)

Hi, it sounds harmless and that the problem was with the website.

To be safe you could download and run spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html ), which is a great utility that scans your system for spyware or other malicious software. If you use Internet Explorer a lot, you may get a high number of results if it is the first time you are doing a scan.

What webhosting should i use?

Posted on January 31st, 2010 by admin

I’m new to webdesign, and i’ve made my brother a small website (www.aphaulage.uuuq.com). At the moment i’m using a free hosting and free domain but i want to buy a domain with some cheap hosting but dont have a clue which to get.

Any help would be great, cheers.

I suggest just registering a domain, to minimize payments, and to use great quality hosting instead, if that website is just as small as you’re saying, because you don’t need much resources. The link goes to free hosting with 1.5 GB disk space, 100 GB bandwidth per month, and other great features (just visit the site). But if you’re going to make a large corporate website (even just a small business website) I recommend paid hosting. The paid version of 000webhost below charges less than $ 5 a month, and gives you unlimited disk space and bandwidth. It is Hosting24.com. Click the link below.

Which Is The Best Web Hosting?

Posted on January 28th, 2010 by admin

I’d like YOU to tell me your experience on webhosting. I would like to pay somewhere between $3 – $6, have unlimited web space, Parallels control panel, Joomla, etc.

Plese, tell me which is the best web hosting…

I use http://www.ixwebhosting-unlimited-pro.moneysavecenter.com?id=m3y227 so far so good.
I have 38 domains and 172 subdomains right now with about 30 databases.
Some sites are article directories with 200.000 pages, I have all sorts.
They are truly the best I have found. No Bluehost rubbish, that’s for sure.

Webhosting Site…And domain selling?

Posted on January 28th, 2010 by admin

I was recently wondering what it would take to make a website that would be like GoDaddy.com, UltranetDomains.com, etc. In otherwords, a website that hosts other websites. I realize I would need servers. Is there a book or something that I could read to figure out how to do this?

Also, I was wondering how to sell domain names. What does GoDaddy do to ‘make’ and ’sell’ their domain names? Thanks!

That would be a lot of work to do. Here’s an idea of what you might need to host Websites and sell domain names:

* Servers, many serves, either physical or virtualized or mixed (best option), to host your clients’ Websites.

* Storage (like NAS), to backup your servers and clients data.

* A very strong, secure and falt-tolerant network infrastructure, as downtime is not acceptable for a service like this. This includes not only the local area network where your servers are connected, but also the Internet connection, which should be more than one and with different ISPs.

* Your very own block(s) of public IP addresses, so that your addresses don’t change if you change ISPs.

* Software to host many Websites on the same server, like Apache or Internet Information Services.

* A very stable and secure operating system, like any UNIX flavor (AIX, Solaris) to run the publishing software.

* Support personnel and tools.

* …

What is the Best Webhost of All Time?

Posted on January 28th, 2010 by admin

I just want to know what the best webhosting company of all time? There are many choices, but I just want a host that has stayed in the business for a long time and has been reputed to have an excellent customer service. Thanks!

The reality is it all depends on what you need. In as much as it is difficult to conclude what the best house is, finding out the best webhost is arbitrary. Therefore, if your need is minimal, then you just need a shared hosting environment. But if you need more for a high traffic site of yours, then perhaps a VPS plan is the right package for you.

This started happening when my brother downloaded apache. I went to the control panel and removed the program but still cannot access the websites. How can I fix this? 10 points for whoever helps me!
This isn’t something that just happened. It’s been going on for three weeks.

that happened to me too.
you just have to wait a little bit, like an hour or more or something.
after that it should work fine.
if not try restarting your computer and go back to the site.

Where do I can find a Free Webhosting, Free PHP and Free MySQL?

Posted on January 28th, 2010 by admin

I am looking for Free Webhosting, Free PHP and Free MySQL. Can someone point out where do I should start? Which is better?

Thank you..

I’ll save you the trouble of looking.
BlueHost. http://www.bluehost.com/

It’s not free but it’s cheap. And for what you are asking, you don’t want free, I promise. You want cheap. And bluehost is about as cheap as you can get that still provides good service.
