I’ve been trying to create a website using Freehostia, but it seems like I need to either pay for a domain name, or already have one to use (which is odd, because I’ve seen Freehostia sites that didn’t have domain names like that…). I’m trying to avoid other services like Webstarts and Webs because they don’t offer unlimited pages.
Well, that’s fine, but I don’t have the first clue how to set up a server on my computer. I read a tutorial on it, but it was telling me that I still had to pay for some other service to do it for me. The only thing I learned is that it’s bad to have a dynamic IP address, which I’m pretty sure I do.
Is doing something like this really complicated? If so, does anyone know of a free webhosting site that has unlimited pages? As in, 100% free?

If someone offer you free lunch, there is something behind it. People are doing business. They want profit from you.
Unlimited pages, unlimited spaces, unlimited bandwidth…. and so on….
If I give you my opinion, I should say, "Please spend few $ – may be $10 to $50 a year and get the things you wanted – reliable, quality, independent". It’s not a big amount when you want to do something on internet – for sure you’ll get returns.

I bought a domain and got unlimited webhosting from Ipage.com, but I want to use a website like wix because it has good templates and it’s easy to build my website there.. The bandwith that site comes with and disk space is 2gb, and if I point my site to it, and use wix to edit my site.. will I have the unlimited or 2gb?? Very confused.

You know websites like youtube, newgrounds and collegehumor? They let users make accounts and upload their videos to it. Well, I like to do the same for my website that I’m building. I want users to be able to upload their videos to my site. Videos in flash, quicktime and other formats. How would I go on doing that?
Second thing, some webhosting sites have unlimited space, but are cheep. Like say webhostingpad.com. Or Godaddy.com and Bluehost.com. I always assumed that those big websites like youtube, Collegehumor and newgrounds pay a lot of money for the bandwidth, but it does seems to be the case for the webhosting sites I listed above.
So all in all, if I do let users add videos to my site, it would not matter because I have unlimited space? Of the three, which hosting site would you pick?
