Domain name registatraion just reserves the website name for you like (www.mywebsite.com).
In order for anything to actually appear on that site you have to get web space/hosting and make sure the domain name is "pointing" at the hosting you have.

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to provide their own websites accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Webhosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation.
A domain name registry, also called Network Information Centre (NIC), is part of the Domain Name System (DNS) of the Internet which converts domain names to IP addresses. It is an organisation which manages the registration of Domain names within the top-level domains for which it is responsible, controls the policies of domain name allocation, and technically operates its top-level domain.

When you register a name you go to a registry site, search to see if it taken, if not, you pay a fee to use that name. It could be FREE as part of buying a hosting package, OR, small, to use the domain name one year, or more to tie it up long term. People wanting to use it say ten years pay more, but usually a smaller per year cost.
Hosting involves actually posting up a web site. It might be using some free services like freewebs.com where you do not completely control the address line.
Or you can pay a fee for a company to host your domain.
Or even more if you are a business with your own completely owned business site.
Someone can "get up" with a website for as little as about $5 for a one year personal web page with a chosen name.

Domain is the name of the site where people like to give the website name and after designing we have to show it to public view
then we have to host it by taking space upto the size of our design

Ditto shrimps, above! Webhosting gives you a place to store the *files* that will be the *substance*, the contents, the text, the images, the words, the "meat", everything you say, in your website. All the stuff. The innards.
Domain name registration is, giving the world notice as to where the files are. It is assigning a name to the files. It is a pointer to the files. "Hey, they’re over here! You call them, http://www.mydomain.com and all the computers in the world will agree to go find them for you!"

It looks like everybody already explained the difference above. You can register a domain and get hosting at http://www.doggydomains.com They have good deals on both.
